Fastnet Rock and Cape Clear"A Time of Change-That's my log-D.J. O'Sullivan. The Fastnet Lighthouse is known as The Teardrop of Ireland, the last sight of Ireland for emigrants sailing to America. The Fastnet Rock is 4.5 miles southwest of Cape Clear and southwest of Mizen Head It looks like a beautiful fine day. However the shot was taken in February on a sunny day and depicts the calm before the storm. The Fastnet Rock never sleeps but constantly flashes its strong beam across the water to warn passing ships of the dangerous Rock. The character adopted is a single flash every 5 seconds."
