"The Galapagos Sea Lion spends a lot of time lounging around on sandy beaches.Normally a cow will spend the first week of their pup's life bonding with it. I took this shot in April on Hood Island when the pup must have been at least five months old. It was very touching to see this cow use her flipper, which is so important for propulsion in the water, to control and protect her pup. The Galapagos Seal Lion is categorised in the 2008 IUCN Red List of Threatened Species as Endangered."
